Got my first C+ ever in Calc BC

Math doesn’t need anyone’s help to take over the world.

Physics B AP was my first ever B in any class in my life, and I just barely managed to maintain an A in Calc BC–hardest class in my life!!! Not necessarily the course material or concepts, but the work and the stress and the problems…Uurgh! On the other hand, it is a WELCOME relief to have finally taken classes where I was actually challenged enough to get a non-A grade. My personal philosophy–if you are getting straight A’s with no effort, you are not learning. Getting a C+ in that class is great–it means you are being pushed beyond your comfort zone! Congrats, man :)

@hiimleila: You are probably primarily verbally gifted and not mathematically gifted. Me too. What bugs me about math is not that I am not interested in it, but that words and language are so much more facile to manipulate and build meaning off of that working with numbers can make me feel like I am just learning grammar again. Must take more courses in numerical things to offset the feeling :)

^ Agreed. The concreteness of math is one of the things that irks me the most; there’s no room for creativity or expression. I know that such is a VERY stupid qualm, but I subsequently suffer from boredom with the subject. It’s just straight formulas and sequences which most people would deem easy but for some reason give me tons of trouble.

I got a C+ because of senioritis, but second semester was a little hard. The final was made to be very very difficult. Honestly, I could care more. I’ve always been in higher level math and honors, but I always scrapped by with a mid range B or sometimes a B+.

Nice. Welcome to the club.

I had a C+ in Calc BC first semester after getting in EA to Yale. I vowed never to take another math class again, and so far its working out pretty well.

^ woo nice job on EA

I got double Cs in AP Chem this year. I was .6% away from a B first semester. I felt horrible because the teacher obviously made mistakes in earlier assignment grading and refused to give me a refund of those points. I’m so upset over them. I could have had As in Honors.

Yes I believe I might have pulled off a 4 on the AP, maybe a 3. Either way UCSB takes both to complete my requirement. No more math!
