I don't know anything about this dorm. Is it a good dorm and location? I'm in the business school. Anyone else in Read?

Read is the one my son wanted, but didn't get, last year. It is right next to the music school, so you get lots of music people there. It isn't close to the business school, but it's not TOO far to walk or bike. Or take the buses... they do run frequently, and lots of students use them to get to classes and around campus. Like Forest, which is right next door, it is close to Mama Bear's Pizza and the T.I.S. bookstore, so there are some benefits.

Read has a gorgeous view of the parking lot, haha. Anyways it's a big dorm, I had a picture of it a while ago, it's all one big building that's like an X. It's closest to all the academic halls, near the one's you'll be taking the business classes (you don't take business prereqs in the B-School). It's a good location, but a lot of the kids are music majors, so I don't know how it's going to be socially.

Thats what I had an issue about...I'm a biz major living w/ all music majors. I wanna be in Central / NW...any way I can get changed?

parikhs, You're in Forest, right? That is NOT all music majors. It has all kinds of students. It has the Honors dorm--and I hear they really like to party--and at least a couple other special groups, as well as a wide variety of majors.

Read is the one closest to the music building, and it has the performing arts dorm, but I'm sure even it is not ALL music majors. Are you sure you are thinking of Read, Wolves? It isn't that big, and it isn't an X. (Forest is big and x-shaped; perhaps that is the one you are thinking of. And Forest actually has a decent view, at least from some of the upper floors. My son looked out into the treetops; it was rather nice.)

Thanks Susan...yah I just had slight concern about the people I'll be living with. I'm the partyin type and I wasn't sure if the people livin in Forest were really that type..but then again, there are parties everywhere - the only concern is its location from other dorms I guess...I'll check it out when i go down for orientation

I think i'm thinking of Read. The one on Jordan that is next to the admissions office, there are views of the parking lot on one side and trees on the other. It's across from the fountains.

Yes, Read is on Jordan with a parking lot on one side and trees on the other, and across from the fountains. It is just not very big and not X-shaped. Maybe the two kind of merged in your memory, since they are next to each other.

I'm not a music major, I'm a business major, so I hope there are a few people that want to talk about something other than how out of tune their violin is.

ya i requested northwest cuz im in the business school but they put me in read...dont really no what it is like...hopefully there will be more freshmen in there...pc
