Okay, so last month in March I took my SAT for the very first time and scored a 1630. I definitely plan on taking it again, but I do have some questions. As a junior in high school getting evermore closer to graduation, can I get some feedback: What can I learn from my score? What schools would take a 1630? Is this a low score (considering 2400 is the maximum)? Any other tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hello @Lorde4Life ,
You can learn from your score of 1630 that you will probably need A LOT MORE practice. But then again, it depends upon the college you would like to go to. If you want to go to a top tier school (Ivy League) then your scores are definitely out of the league. However if you want to go to an in-state college (nothing wrong with that), then you might be on the track with a little more practice. A 1630 is about equivalent to a 163 on the PSAT. The following list are schools that will accept scores of 163 (1630):
Research Universities:
University of Missouri-Kansas City (162-205)
Howard University (131-196)

Frankly, I cannot judge you if that is a good score or not. Everyone has different standards of achievement. Like I said earlier, it depends upon which college you want to go to.
BUT REMEMBER TO PRACTICE, PRACTICE, AND PRACTICE!!! ![]()
Yo dude dont be discouraged by a 1630 ironically i took the test in november and got that same score and took it in march and got an 1820! Although the first time i took it i was uneducated about the test (Omitted 21 questions altogether on the 1st test because I thought guessing was bad) My math and reading score skyrocketed i went from 1130 M+R to 1270 M+R
Yes, there are schools that accept students with such scores and yes this is considered a somehow low score. And there are colleges that will accept you by not sending a score at all (test optional schools).
There are a lot of questions. What type of school you go, what’s the average scores at your school, what kind of student you are, what kind of colleges you are looking at and so on.
Did you prepare for your test? I do not advise to go and retake it without spending some time preparing first.
