Got questions about OXY?

ThatPoshGirl

What is the applicant checklist? Would that show admittance decisions?

thanks

There is a website you can go to to find out if they have received all your materials:

https://is.oxy.edu/admission/applicant_checklist/applicant_checklist.taf?

I don't know if it shows your decision. I keep asking people but no one knows or wants to say.

This is on their website:

"Application Reading in the Home Stretch

3/16/09

The admission office is now entering the home stretch in reading applications. This year's applicant pool was the largest and strongest in Occidental history, and we are in the process of making our final decisons. We look forward to welcoming the Class of 2013!

Decisions will likely be mailed on Thursday, March 26.

We do not offer admission decisions over the phone or via email. PLEASE NOTE: Transfer admission decisions have not been made. Those decisions will be mailed in early May."

^^ Aww man that sucks

StevenSeagal: same thing happened to me. They told me about it today and I started spazzing out thinking that none of my schools got the mid year report. I hope that's not the case.

Mailed out on the 26th? Hm, that's weird. The Oxy swim coach contacted me asking if I was serious about the team, asked me my times and stuff. He e-mailed me Thursday saying they would be sending out decisions sometime this week. So maybe that's just the latest possible date or something? Either way, I can't wait to hear from Oxy!

The applicant check list thing scared me since it had down my SAT scores. I never officially sent my SAT scores to Oxy, but I self reported them on the common app. I thought my ACT score was better so I got an official score sent for that one. Which one are they using? I hope they at least looked at my ACT score since I DID spend money to get it sent there. =/

^^ Maybe you're getting your decisions sooner than everyone else because you're being recruited.
Also, your school may have sent your SAT scores to Oxy, mine sent in my ACT scores (which I didn't want anyone seeing lol)

uh oh...I didn't know about that website where you could check to see if they receieved all of your materials...and I just checked and everything is good except the 2nd Teacher Rec is not listed! Shouldn't they have contacted me by now if they really didn't have it? (they were very on top of asking me more info for my financial aid) Should I call them??

Does it say the second teacher rec is outstanding, or is it just not listed at all?

It's not listed at all.....but I just remembered that I received an email from them on 2/13 that said my application is complete. So I think I'm good! I wonder why it's not listed there though?

My second rec isn't listed at either the schools I applied to. I don't know why.

Is that checklist for freshman students only? how about transfer students?

^^ I just checked that site with all the information Oxy has received and my SAT IIs were not listed...hmm should I call or is this normal?!

BumbleBee, it works for transfer too.

My SAT IIs aren't there either; anyway, Oxy doesn't require them. When you send your SATs, your SAT IIs are also shown. Could be under "SAT Achievement Score."

I didn't send my ACT score to Oxy...but they listed it anyway? I only put my score on my Common App, but didn't bother send official reports because my SAT I was better. I wonder why?

^^ Thanks bird.

About one week left....

AHG!

Do you know the average GPA of students currently attending Oxy? Not HS GPA, but college GPA

this is somewhat scary I type my information and it says they have no record on file for fall 2009 and spring 2010

BumbleBee, it works for me, that's weird. Have you tried it using your birthdate instead of last four of your social (or using last four of your social instead of birthday, depending on which way you went).

Yea I tried, using birthdate, I think it may be because I'm a transfer student and submitted my app on the day of the deadline (But before the midnight deadline). March 15. I don't think they would take 6 days to process all the transfer apps. I will check again a few days later.

Also it's funny how that system works, if I type in any random name, like "Rob" for instance, it says the same thing - there is no record on file for fall 2009... blah blah. I'm not sure if it's a computer glitch or if it's just me.
