Got rejected from Caltech today.

Everyone accepted at great schools like Caltech have good stats, etc, and are qualified. They wouldn’t take an unqualified female applicant over a male applicant… buuuuuut…

They have a ton of applicants that could do very well at Caltech, but they can’t fit all of them, so they’ll be forced to reject some. They will probably be more inclined to rejected qualifed guys instead of the qualified females because less females apply.

In conclusion, the qualified guy would probably be rejected for an equally qualified girl, not a less qualified girl (The latter happens, just not as much and it would definitely be very rare at top schools like Caltech and MIT, etc).

alright if you need solace, you may laugh at me once i get rejected from MIT in about 10.5 hours.

all these harsh responses are unnecessary. If you know the post does not go down well with you, then simply do not reply to it.

hi anik,

that’s right. the whole idea’s corny, but my friend survived 2 years in caltech with just research money and doing odd jobs (but pretty hightech jobs) there…you get paid for anything you do there…like i bet the techer who didn’t like my application was getting paid like $20 an hour just to sort out the apps…and the caltech SURF pays you $600 per week just to research…and 75% of the research proposals are selected.

So as you can see, its not as Caltech is bankrupt or anything…the least they can do is give full financial aid to all the internationals who get admitted (like what MIT does)

And I probably would have had better chances if oestrogen did flow in me..who knows…haha!

‘And I probably would have had better chances if oestrogen did flow in me’

LOL

No college would ever tell you the reason why they rejected you. It’s not as if you’ll take it to be ‘good advice’ and mull over it, right? You’ll again just try to prove them wrong; it’s little use.
