i got rejected from stanford early action and i can't sleep over what this means. i'm the top student in my class at a blue ribbon public school (i saw the principal's list when i was in his office..) and i got outright rejected. my friend whose grades are around my level but he's a genius got deferred from columbia university. and my other friend whose grades are not near my level and she's not exactly smart (i'm not trying to be condescending or think myself to be some genius, we just have different ways of thinking) got deferred from cornell. i understand i might have picked a major harder than them (biochemistry, columbia guy- organic chemistry, cornell- architecture), what other reason is there for being rejected? i sent all my applications at the same time so when i applied for stanford early action i also applied for duke regular (duke is my dream school)

the other colleges i applied for were duke, uc berkeley, ucla, uc sd, uc davis. my major was bioengineering. the two i'm really keen on getting into is duke and berkeley. i didn't apply to more because i'm a foreigner and i don't want my dad to spend anymore money (he has to support my brother in singapore too and my mum isn't working).

here are my stats:

ACT: composite w/o writing: 33, english: 36, math: 34, reading: 34, science: 28, writing: 8
SAT subjects: math 2: 790, chemistry: 740, us history: 710
GPA weighted: 4.3, unweighted, 3.97 (one B+ in ap lang)
AP tests: 5 for AP euro, AP US history, AP chemistry; 4 for AP stats, AP eng lang
Semester I: I'm taking AP bio, AP calc AB, AP eng lit, AP art, Sports med, Gov. I might get B+'s in bio and calc AB but I'm not giving up yet
Clubs: CSF (which is stupid since almost everyone in my school is in it)
Extracurricular: Intern at lawrence hall of science at berkeley. i work at the museum, i teach summer classes on science and math, i help brainstorm new museum programs, i lead hikes, also do a lot of volunteer work at the YMCA and restoration at a creek in a city near mine. I've graduated from the british piano system, and i help my teacher teach piano and music theory. i also tutor three families (although on my application i said two because the third just called recently)
Anything else interesting: i skipped two grades so i'm 15, a senior in high school, and at least in the top 3 (not percent) of my class (public, blue ribbon sch). chinese/ malaysian race, singaporean nationality

i would have applied for duke early decision, but at that time my parents did not seem willing to pay for private college. i only found out yesterday that they would let me go to duke if i get in which just makes me more anxious to know what are my chances.
