Had good grades ( not extraordinary) , good SAT. good extracurriculars. rejected UCLA, UCSD. ****ed off right now. What would you have done?

Gone to a college that’s less than top- tier. It’s shocking, but they actually exist, and offer great education at easier to get into rates.

What would i do?

I would have gotten in

@jasonInNy
Hahah horrrrible.

but I would’ve applied to some less-selective colleges that I’d be just as happy to attend and hope that they’d offer some scholarship money.

MY UCGPA: 3.7 ish
SAT: 2100

^^neither of those are good for UCLA. Stop sounding as though you were entitled to an acceptance. Maybe if you had had a 4.5 and a 2300…

Dude you had a 3.63 UC Gpa, who should you really be ****ed off at?? UCLA’s AVERAGE is 4.08 from LAST YR, when there was LESS competition. Good SAT, but UC’s care about gpa more than SAT. Point blank: Your UC Gpa got you denied.

I realize you’re upset, but there’s not much any of us could tell you to make you feel better. Rejection sucks, but life goes on. I personally think everything happens for a reason, and I’m sure that you’ll be happy at the college you end up going to, even if isn’t the one you originally wanted to attend.

^ all that
And as a side note, the other UCs are just as great. Davis has an amazing, beautiful campus and great academics, Irvine and Santa Barbara have certain highly ranked majors and also great academics… either way, your degree will say “University of California.”
And most of the 4000+ schools in the country will give you as great of an education as the one you’d get at UCSD or UCLA.

well, to be honest, as for applying to UCLA, if you only have 3.63 UC GPA, you don’t feel *ed, you ARE *ed.

UC Riverside has a waitlist! Okay? It’s gettin’ kinda hectic…

What would I have done?

I would have gone to somewhere else I had been accepted - possibly with some scholarship money.

What I would have done…accept it and move on. What else can you do?

Sent from my iPhone using CC

the upper UC schools only care about the UC gpa man.
im in a similar situation as you, i was rejected from UCLA and waitlisted from UCSD (which is basically a rejection, 0 people were taken off the waitlist last year). my UC gpa is pretty low, ~3.6 uw and ~3.8 weighted, but i have a 32 act/2160 SAT.
i honestly dont think its possible to get in UCLA with under a 3.8 GPA unless you are a minority, the entire admissions process at UCs are pretty homosexual in general
i will probably end up going to UCSB or USC and transferring to UCLA or berkeley after a year

Go to CC or lesser UC then transfer to UCLA or UCB. You’ll be saving tons of cash.

@curvedestroyer
good luck on that. Notice that only 4% of transfer who got in LA or Cal are from another UC, and even less from other non-community collge.

*MY UCGPA: 3.7 ish
SAT: 2100

^^neither of those are good for UCLA. *

NOT TRUE!!!

I know 2 students accepted to UCLA this year that didn’t have a SAT 2100. One only had a 2030…the other had about a 2030. the one with the 2060 wasn’t even top 20% for class rank.

And, both also found out yesterday that they were admitted to UCSD as well.

School…where else did you apply?

I got rejected from those too! I was expecting rejection from UCLA, didn’t think i would be rejected from SD But i guess it wasn’t meant to be, still it’s not over you can always transfer if you really want to go to either!

i applied to all the UC’s

for those of you people that want to know
ucr - accept
ucm - accept
cal poly pomona - accept
cal poly slo - accept
csu lb - accept
ucsc - accept
ucla - reject
ucb- reject (has’nt been released yet but almost for sure)
ucsd-waitlist
ucsb - accept
uci - TBA
ucd - TBA

im hoping irvine and davis (=

I wish you the best of luck concerning your college prospects and all, but you come off as sort of …abrasive. People on here are just trying to help or share information to make you a more informed human being, so take it all with some perspective!

As for Cal, they haven’t released decisions yet, so don’t lose hope… there’s still a chance! And it looks like you have some great options already, so the future’s looking bright.

AdComs are so unpredictable… none of us really know what they’re looking for… Should I have written a different essay? What if I put another leadership position?–We all try to guess and find patterns and mold ourselves to that to get into College X, but we’re gonna succeed in college and in life if we want to regardless of where we go to school cause we’re all champs.
