Interview: Went okay, but not amazing. Loud environment, so there was a lot of talking over the crowd.

Recs: Both from teachers who are very supportive of me, amazing.

Conselour Rec: I have no idea.

Essays: I thought they were good. One was about my scoliosis and how I learned about listening to people who know better and are trying to help me through it, and the other Yale-specific one was about debate and how you learn new perspectives through it.

If there is anything else I should add, please tell. What do you think? Why didn't I get in and what do I need to work on?

I don’t think it is any particular thing, but improving ACT/SAT scores would definitely help. I can’t gauge the quality of your essays, or how hard your school is, but I think you have decent awards and ECs. You do have a shot, but Ivys are reaches for anyone.

Though I’m sure you’ve heard this, getting into Yale SCEA and getting into Yale or other Ivies for that matter are two different things. That is, the applicant pool for SCEA is filled with recruited athletes and other people who are basically guaranteed admission already. You have a fair shot though don’t give up!

If you were rejected and not deferred, I’m sorry to say it doesn’t seem like you have much of a chance.

You might try Cornell, as last year they had an estimated 13.47% acceptance rate in the RD round – ten percentage points higher than HP.

first of all, dont’ mention specific info (not going to say what it is, but something in your post has something VERY specific) in public forums and other specific info that can link people to your actual identity

second of all, you seem to have a strong application! I dont know how many people were rejected from yale and how many deferred and accepted but you probs have a chance if you improve your scores on ACT or SAT, other that that focus on writing solid and good essays…
