Got rescinded from UC Irvine!!!

And OP, you keep logging in but do not post an update. What are you planning to do now that UCI has rescinded so many acceptances?

UCI has reportedly reinstated the admissions of 117 of the 499 affected students.

That would leave 382 affected students. Apparently 367 of those have filed appeals, which UCI is still reviewing. More reinstatements could follow.

The OP is unlikely to be one of those reinstated, since the OP’s case is one of academic disqualification (see reply #24), rather than administrative error with respect to sending final transcripts and the like.

It sucks…because it sounds like if this happened any other year, OP would be fine. This year they are just being especially tough.

I’m sorry OP…I can’t imagine what you are going through now.

Probably not. The OP’s academic deficiency was on the more severe side (resulting in not meeting the baseline requirement of 4 years of high school English, despite taking one of the semesters of 9th grade English twice (D grade both times)), so it is unlikely that even if UCI were being more lenient than usual, the OP would be reinstated.

https://news.uci.edu/2017/08/02/message-from-uci-chancellor-about-current-admission-issues/ indicates that UCI will reinstate rescinded students “except those whose transcripts clearly indicate that they did not meet our academic standards. Those standards are: No Ds or Fs their senior year; a senior-year grade point average of at least 3.0; completion of all A-G requirements outlined by the University of California; and required test scores as indicated on the students’ admission portals.” (boldface added) In other words, those rescinded due to administrative errors would be reinstated, but not those rescinded for academic reasons.

Note that the OP did not meet the two boldfaced criteria, so it would be unlikely for the OP to be reinstated.

ditto what @ucbalumnus posted from the chancellors report https://news.uci.edu/2017/08/02/message-from-uci-chancellor-about-current-admission-issues/
