I am a Spring transfer, but I haven't yet got anything from Cornell yet, except for a small letter from the Hotel admissions office... I didn't get anything from the admissions office yet.
I am wondering about my orientation schedules, meal plans, dorm situations etc......does anyone know where I would live next semester? I am a freshman, btw.

Did everyone get his/her package yet? or are most of you guys still waiting for one??

I got admitted as a spring transfer just before Christmas..I received my admissions package the day after Christmas, it included the acceptance letter, meal plan and dorm info, and the reply card to send back with the deposit to confirm you will be attending...

What I am waiting for now is my financial aid package...I start school tomorrow (the school I am at now) so I really need to know what my financial aid is so I can go ahead and withdraw from my current school...But it looks like I may have to attend classes for the next couple days (which I really don't want to do) until I receive that, so I can make sure I can afford Cornell...

I just found out that my admission package got lost because Cornell sent it to my previous institution...and obviously, the schools were on break, so they have no idea what really happened.
When I called Cornell, they told me to sign up for the housing asap, and so I did...Now I am wondering what I am missing out. Would you mind sharing what else I have to do in addition to housing? What else is in the package? I am worried because certain things might have deadline but I wouldn't be able to make the deadline.
I have requested Cornell to send me the admission package once again, but who knows how long it will take....I am also anticipating for my financial aid award letter, because it is really important for me, too..
Who would have expected that my package getting lost on the way? This is horrible....I hate all this mess!!

p.s. so did you go back to your school??
I know my previous school started today, but I did not go back...does that mean you actuallay paid the tuition for the school? Whoa.

Rosiedaisy,
I'm currently experiencing the same dilemma.
I haven't received ANYTHING and I'm freaking out. I called admissions today, and they said that they'd resend my acceptance packet, but until I have actually have it in my hands, I'll be worrying. I'm now about to contact someone in housing. Good luck, and keep me updated. If you have AIM, send me a message.

The most important thing in that packet was the slip you need sign and return with your $400 deposit to confirm enrollment, it says it is due the 1st week in January but I probably won't get my fin aid until Friday so I am going to turn it in next week (and hope everything works out).
The next most important thing in that packet was the part that told you to apply for housing...Since you already did that there really isn’t anything else in there that is very urgent (you that you need to turn in)...There was a pamphlet on financial aid talking about the cost of Cornell, the various kinds of loans offered, how your award will be calculated etc. etc...There was a pamphlet talking about the various housing options...The whole packet is called "The Case for Cornell"...

I did go back to school...I get my tuition refunded if I withdraw by next Tuesday, so I'll keep going to class until then or until I know my fin aid...I called Financial Aid and they said they would have my award available on Friday so I'll call them then...

I would call Fin Aid and tell then you were admitted as a spring transfer and ask if they have everything they need (the app, taxes, etc.) just to double check.

I would definitely call Financial Aid to ask if you have all your stuff in and to ask for a timeline for when you will receive your award letter.

You can call fin aid office and they can tell you what your package is. If you don't care about your package and know you want to come to Cornell, you can just mail them a letter saying "included in the $400 need to hold my place in the incoming spring transfer class." You can't need the actual card in the acceptance package.

well...i got an email that says "Confirmed Contract" in the subject line that I got like 2 minutes after I applied for housing...I haven't gotten anything else saying that I have been placed.

I sent them an additional e-mail stating my problem (that my admission package got lost) and asked for a specific housing style (I wanted single).......Then this lady named Sandra Davenport who's in charge of Undergrad Housing sent me the response that I've got the room that I want.

Ahhhhhhhhhh. What am I going to do...Financial Aid just called to tell me that my financial aid package won't be available until next Monday or Tuesday...I do not understand why it takes so long.

I need to withdraw from my current school by Monday (and I let Fin Aid know that too)... Is Cornell's aid generally not very good??? I think i might bite the bullet and withdraw and hope the aid package is good....But if it's not and I can't go...I will be school-less.

I have to say that I am quite disenchanted with how slowly they have been handling affairs for Spring transfer students. We're going to be there in 10 days and haven't been given bear access (email), housing, orientation information, financial aid info, etc.

One would hope that and Ivy League school's administration would be a little more fluid, but I guess all school administrations move this slowly.

I totally agree with journey495. The people at both admissions and finaid office are very laid-back and unhelpful. I can't believe they are working this slow....
As far as finaid goes, you can still talk with your finaid counselor once you enroll. Just don't pay the full tuition at first, and keep talking with the counselor until they meet your need.....at least that's what I'm about to do if the award letter doesn't come until 15th.
