I received an email saying I got waitlisted from UVA, the other 2 unis ive heard from till now are
Minnesota Twin Cities and Indiana Bloomington. To hear from Virginia I’d have to wait till 1st week of May or more,
Im an int student and I’d have to pay the first deposit to at least some uni in US, but I cant spend so much as well.
What should I do? Being on the waitlist seems like a good but a bad idea as well.
Is there anyway I can hear from them before May or anything I could do to make them re-consider ?
What’s the cost of the deposit? At state schools I’d think it’s 200 to 300 bucks… I’d pay it to have a spot as waitlist is too risky to wait for
Check with each uni. At ours, the enrollment deposit is refundable if you send as request before 5/1. The housing was non refundable but it’s worth checking.
If losing the $280 deposit (@ UMinn) causes a financial hardship, can you really afford the schools?
since UVa does not provide financial aid to Internationals, you must have the money to make a deposit. Sure, you hate to lose money, but it’d be worth it to attend UVa.
btw: no, you cannot get them to reconsider before May 1.
