Got Waitlisted. :( what happens if i accept offer?

i GOT waitlisted for Washington U. What would happen if i accept the offer to wait for a spot?

I’m curious as to how that works too. Like after May 1, if ur still on the waitlist, what happens?

I would say accept the spot. That way, they may still contact you before the May 1st deadline. However, if you have been accepted into another school and have decided to go there, then you would have to contact admissions and retract yourself from the waitlist is what I’m assuming.

If you’re still on the WL after May 1, they’ll send you a (polite) rejection letter.

If after May 1, you’re accepted from the waitlist of a school that you’d prefer to go to, you accept the waitlist school and withdraw your acceptance from the college you had accepted.

All you lose is your deposit. Colleges know this happens. It’s called “summer melt.”

Some colleges will be still taking students off the waitlist as late as mid August. The very top colleges, though, will let students know in about mid June that they aren’t taking any more students off the waitlist.

Just don’t accept two admission offers at the same time because you don’t know which school you prefer. If the colleges find out, both will rescind your offers.
