Dear S got an invitation from his HS to go to the Academic Awards ceremony last night (didn't think he was getting an academic award but decided we should go) When we got there, inside the program was a four page insert listing all the seniors who got scholarships from colleges, S was listed as "academic scholarship from U. of South Carolina". This was just a listing, no formal announcements for these kids. They then started the program, a representative was from West Point to give awards to the two students to be commissioned there, and then a representative from USC was there, they announced both my S, and another girl as McKissick scholarship award recipients and another Cooper scholarship recipient. They were given a certificate in a "carolina" red folder. This was the only school who had a representative there to present a scholarship. All of the rest of the kids on the list were just on the list, no announcements, no certificates. I am sooo impressed with this school, its communication and its alumni involvement!!!

Hooray for your S and the others!
So nice to be made to feel special!
S got the red (you have to start calling it garnet LOL) folder with his scholarships presented by a local county gov't representative..maybe it was too far for USC to send someone to NY so they called the local office?
