What I remember hearing about the abroad experience requirement at Goucher is that it does not have to be a traditional semester or year abroad. It could be a summer abroad, or even (I think) a couple of 3-week intersession programs that take place overseas. Plus they give you something like $1200 to help pay for it.

You are right. Thanks

Goucher does require that each student study abroad as part of its focus on “Transcending Boundaries” which I think is a great thing
The main options are 3-week Intensive Courses Abroad (ICAs), a semester, or an entire year abroad. This is really nice for those of us who don’t want to take an entire semester away from school (like myself), so I’m going to France to study theatre this summer for 3 weeks! They have SO many great programs to accomodate all of the students, and they are also very flexible in helping the students find other programs elsewhere that suit what they want to study. There are a few study abroad fairs during the year that include Goucher programs and many others so students can get a really good idea of their options. And Goucher does provide $1200 to help ease the cost to every student. I believe they may be able to give a little bit more for certain semester or year long programs, but I’m not sure. They also have some scholarship money available specifically for study abroad.

I think the lack of greek life is a MAJOR plus! It takes away so much pressure to go party, or be associated somehow with those groups. I went to a school that had frats last year and the difference is huge. (I obviously MUCH prefer Goucher’s system.)

I would say Goucher probably is the most artsy, but that doesn’t mean everyone here is an artist. Art is not the biggest major, but I would use artsy to mean that the students are extremely diverse in their looks, attitudes, ideas and opinions, personalities, etc. It’s a wonderful mix of so many amazing people and it’s a great community to be a part of!

Thanks

What do students feel about the business classes? Weekend life? Work/fun balance? Intramural sports?

Thanks
