Goucher College

Does anyone know anything about Goucher college? I have visited and have been accepted but I still don't really have a feel for what it is like. It seems really small.

Sorry I can't help...I've never heard of it.

My mom graduated from Goucher 1978 so I have been on the campus a few times in the last 18 years and I took an official tour last fall. It has a green campus, lots of grass and trees. The drive into Baltimore is about 20 minutes and you can be in downtown Towson in about 3 minutes. Baltimore has a lot going on. You can take classes at a bunch of other colleges including JHU and MICA. I met with the music professors who were great.

I am waiting to hear Rd. Has anyone heard RD?

It has a good reputation. You can take courses at Johns Hopkins. There's a shuttle. Towson has alot of restaurants and bars. Baltimore downtown is easy access. They seem to have good student support and are making an effort to publicize. My mom was class of 1980. I'm a Jr. I'll probably apply.

I spent the night at Goucher and it seems like the perfect place for someone who wants a VERY small liberal arts school where everybody knows everyone else. It was like high school in my opinion.

I thought the people were very nice but it wasn't for me. Architecturallly, every building looks exactly the same and the campus kind of feels like a labryinth with no marker of where you are. I didn't feel like there was that much activity on campus but that may just be because I was there on a Thursday. I went to a class and the teacher was young and interesting but not every student seemed too attentive.

It depends on what you're looking for. After spending the night at Goucher I decided that I wanted a big urban school instead but you may want just the opposite. Once again, these are rather superficial insights as I'm not sure how much you can get from one overnight.

My daughter was also accepted to Goucher and is trying to decide what to do. She does not have a good feel for it eother. We will be there this weekend so hopefully she'll know more.
