Hi, is there anyone out there who can give me the rankings from the Gourdman Report for areas that are related to medicine, especially biochem, biology, chem in order of highest preference to lowest preference? Other areas that would be nice to know are physics (my biggest weakness and required for MCATs), and anatomy/physiology. And if possible, can anyone give me an idea or a comment about illinois-urbana champaign's medicine program (sakky convinced me earlier to rethink my medical school process).

Here's just what I think - Gourman report is pretty useless for most undergrad things, though it claims to be very specific and good. The overall quality of the undergrad matters much more than specific rank in a field. Check out US News or THES or WSJ or an undergrad ranking and look to see which school attracts the strongest student. Thats probably your best bet for most undergrad majors.

Now, this is especially relevant in your case, since it looks like your considering pre-med/bio. Check out to see how good the schools medical placement is. Or just placement in general. Look to see average GMAT scores or something. You'll find using that method the Ivies, Stanford, Duke, MIT, Chicago, NU, JHU etc. dominate in every category.

Now, of course, specific department rankings are important if youve ruled out top privates like the ones I mentioned.

I have the Gourman Report book and will post the rankings. The Gourman Report methodology tends to favor research universities. Are you also considering LACs? I also have the lists from Rugg's Recommendations which mentions LACs that are strong in your areas of interest. Let me know if you want some possible LACs too.
