Government and History

What actvities outside of school do you suggest someone who is interested in history and government get involved in?

I'm a member of a political group in my area (Teenage Republicans of York). You might look to the Young Republicans/Democrats/whatever as a club to join. Through the presidential election I volunteered with my city's Republican headquarters. I also have an internship with my local US congressman. I have interned with a district judge and the district attorney in my city. It all depends on what area of government and history you are interested in. You might try finding some sort of internship/job shadowing at a museum, with a government official (local congressman, or even state rep), or with the local DA's office. I guarantee you will be able to find something. The only "connection" I had was with the judge- the rest I just telephoned/e-mailed and set up. Good luck! :)
