Hey, guys/gals. Are any of you alums of Governor's School? I graduated from Governor's School East at the end of July, so I am little curious considering around half of the Governor's School student body ends up going to Chapel Hill. If so, tell what your Area 1 was. I was in the English department, woot!

Hey, I went to GSE last summer. My area 1 was Natural Science. You may have heard but GS is a feeder for UNC, most of my friends are going to chapel hill. A few to Harvard and Standford. Actually the girl who won the National Science Fair sat next to me during labs....kinda cool.

Oh, that's awesome. I was actually in Chuck's Poetry class. It was simply amazing. My friends that were in Natural Science said it pretty much sucked. Did you have the same experience?

Yeah Chuck was the man, i didn't have him for area two or three but he was an awesome dude to talk to. Natural Science was really cool, i had alot of fun playing with chemicals they wouldn't let us use in public school. Maybe it sucked this summer. Do you plan on applying to Chapel Hill next year?

One of my good friends was in natural science and he took some ethanol from the lab. He almost got caught! The chemicals are very, ahem, fun.

Oh, I plan on attending UNC-Chapel Hill (if I don't get into Duke, that is!). I have already finished the application to UNC, but I need to do some work on my long essay. Although I plan on applying early decision to Duke, but I probably won't get in. I really like UNC, though. I would be happy to go to Duke or UNC, so I don't think I can lose!

Being a UNC person i wouldn't want you to go to duke but duke is a very good school. It all depends on what you want to do. What do you plan on studying?

Contrary to my Area 1 at Governor's School (English), I am definitely going into the social sciences. My passion is geography and Carolina has that major, but Duke does not. So, if I really want to go forward with geography, I will head off to Chapel Hill. Your Area 1 was Natural Science. Are you majoring in a science?

I want to major in Chemistry and/or biology. Before a few weeks ago i was going to due business administration but the finance market has crashed and being a doctor has always been something i have been interested in. Geography is really cool, what do you plan on doing after school?

Well, the capitalist economics is cyclical, so it is not outside of the realm of possibility that the economy could be doing quite well by the time you graduate. A degree in business might not be all that bad! Double major, perhaps?

If I do major in geography, I will probably look for a job in GIS (Geographical Information Systems) or go to graduate school to earn my Ph.D to teach. Speaking of which, there sure were a handful of Ph.D graduate students teaching at GSE. Did you ever have MathRob (a math Ph.D student) teach one of your classes? He taught my Area III class. I had Carl for Area II, although I believe he finished up his Master's already.

Their is always the possibility of the economy correcting its self after four years but then their would be a huge supply of experience labor, but who know. MathRob did a little experiment for natural science and then talked about working and stuff. He is a really nice guy. Teaching is always a good career they always need teachers and you get a lot of satisfaction from teaching. Who was your hall TA/C?

The boys were in Barefoot this year and I was on the fourth floor with Brandon Tesh as my hall TA/C, the really good saxophone player. Although he did give my study hall after the middle of summer break for not signing out! I got all the way to a little sandwich shop in Cary, NC and then realized I forgot to sign out. Ridiculous. I also got study hall the first day of classes for skipping the 3PM Convocation. I stayed out on the Quad and talked with this girl who skipped with me. Mind you, however, we didn't knowingly skipped. We just wondered, "Where is everyone going?" Pretty smart, eh?
