well not really, but i heard that a lot of kids got their notifications for governor's school in PA today, and i believe school of science announced decisions pretty early last year in jersey... could it be they're actually following the date of announcement or is this a bad sign?

Good luck, cujoe169! I hope you'll hear something soon. My daughter received her letter of acceptance for Governor's School during the first week of March. We live in Tennessee, so I'm sure the notification date is different for each state. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! The waiting is the hardest part.

thanks for the support... and still no letter... GRRRR!... they said march 30th, but last year they sent out notifications early, so i'm just a bit confused... maybe tomorrow?

Just out of curiosity SplashMom, which Governor's School will your daughter be attending? I live in Tennessee as well and will be attending the school for the sciences.

I wish you the best cujoe! It's not a bad sign at all. The letter is just delayed a little...

She will be attending the Governor's School for International Studies at the University of Memphis. She's very excited, as I'm sure you are! Congratulations and I hope you have a fabulous time! Is the Governor's School for Science at UTK? D will be spending the week prior at Girls State, so I guess we can pretty much plan on not seeing her for the majority of the summer. I know we will miss her terribly and I'm sure your parents feel the same!

Cujoe, keep the faith!

lol... i am! and congrats to ur daughter and to lola-cho too!

checked the mail, and still no letter... maybe i wrote my address wrong? haha

When you applied, what date did they give you as a notification date? Don't let the lack of notice bring you down. All states do things differently, I'm sure. Watching for the postman each day to deliver a much anticipated letter is like watching a pot boil. A watched pot does eventually boil, but it seems to take longer to do so when we are waiting specifically for that to happen. Hopefully your letter will arrive soon! Good luck! Keep us posted.

march 30... but last year sciences sent emails about a week in advance... if it weren't for cc, i wouldn't know that they did that and i wouldn't have been waiting for a week lol!

okay...dumb question!
What is "Governor's school" and who is eligible? I had always assumed it was an honors program, that only was offered in certain states (ie. if you live in Pennsylvania, only those residents could attend). But from the former posts, it sounds like there are more numerous opportunities. Please explain. Thanks.

yep... um... it's a state funded program that has 7 schools? in 7 subjects, art, engineering, sciences, international relations, etc... it's fairly prestigious, about 23% of applicants in nj were accepted last year... it's free, and you have to be a junior... anything i missed?

as i continue to update this thread, now becoming a blog, checked the mail again... NOTHING... drew is lettin' me down!

it would seem my ordeal is over... as fellow sciencer's have already recieved their acceptance letters... even tho this isn't as momentous as a college rejection/acceptance, it still kinda bothers me :(

Don't they give you a definite decision letter pretty soon? Don't say it's over until THEY tell you it's over.

lol... but most of the time, when something seems too good to be true it is... in this case, it's free, they feed you, they give you a laptop... you live by yourself for a month... it's too good to be true

it's official, rejected... not even waitlist... guess i'll be goin to taiwan this summer :)

Sorry about the no-go on the Governor's School, cujoe, but Taiwan sounds great!
