Governor's school?

Is anyone else applying to their state's gov schools?

If so, which state/which ones/how're you managing your apps so far?

bump
........

NJ, Public Issues, ours was due a while ago. Our counselors gave it to some of us with only one day to fill out the entire application, lol. Luckily I was one of the ones who had about a week...

I got a letter 2 weeks ago saying Congrats, I was one of 18 awesome juniors in my school considered but that I wasn't chosen. Which just made me more sad than if I hadn't known in the first place. :P (NJ)

Looks like we didn't get apps at all to enter ourselves.

NJ, International Studies, and I had to have my application in on the 19th. I had asked my counselors if I could be the school's nominee because I'm really interested in stuff like this. Since I was the first to come forward and probably would have been nominated for one of the schools anyway, he said yes. I hated this one essay though. It was a 200-word autobiographical sketch and I rewrote it three times. I just don't like writing about myself I guess. Otherwise, the application was no problem.

Sciences, PA. Need to get going on my application. And the autobiography part sounds like a real pain.

Academics (vs. visual/performing arts), DE. Delaware is a real slacker state, the website isn't even updated and we don't apply until april. As far as I can tell, the application is minimal too with 2 students from each school being able to attend and my grade has only 50 students. Will a governor's school as easy as mine still look prestigious?

I'm going to try for Sciences and possibly Information/Technology at PA. I'm more interested in the sciences because I think I have a better chance of getting in, and if I get in, I probably won't be a total idiot (I'm interested in computers, but my actual class experience is pretty limited), and it's at Carnegie Mellon, a school I certainly wouldn't mind going to.

Any random advice?

Apply to both. My son applied to both Sciences and Information/Technology a few years ago and was accepted to both. He attended the Sciences and had a great experience there. Good luck.

Virginia - Humanities

Due sometime this month...
