Gpa 2.4

Hello. I am from Croatia. We in Croatia have got apsolutely other system from you in America. Our University have in 4 years about 60 subjects and we must to go in for an examination only once. Because of that often we have bad grades because in one time we must to know few books. Our average of studying is 7 years. Students on my University half of them didnt yet finished, after 7 years. And we have luck that we can have average 2.0 but with 2 Letters of Recommendation we can enroll without problemms. But I can see that your System request great grades. So can you tell me why is he apllying that good and can I enroll any University here or not? I have written three books, one project about Bullying, Competition in Swimming, doing on line programm, but so I can see it is for you all nothing! Just grades are very important and nothing else. So can you tell me do I have chance in any University in America is it better to give up? I wanted to enroll one who isnt top 100- university in Idaho, but as seems and they arent interested because of my grades. So what can I do?

From what I have gathered, the education system in Europe is stricter than in the U.S. Getting good grades in Europe is supposedly more difficult than in the U.S. Your 2.4 in Croatia might even be equivalent to a 3.4 here in the U.S., though I wouldn't know for sure. However, I'm not sure if American universities would take that into consideration.

Sometimes people do get into graduate schools here even if they have less than a 3.0 gpa, especially if they have other good credentials, as you seem to have. However, in such cases they might be admitted "conditionally." What that means is that a grad department might admit them, but the student would be expected to prove that he/she is capable of doing the work. Such a student would be unlikely to get a graduate assistantship, at least at first, and might have to find another way to pay for schooling.

One thing that might help is taking the GRE (graduate record examination) and trying to get a high score on that. Just about all U.S. grad schools require the GRE, and some programs put substantial importance on your GRE scores.

Kiki jesi to ti?

I have a pal from the Philippines. The grading scale over there is wild. She is looking for some place which would convert her transcript into the US model of a GPA. The grading scale and all over in her country is way stricter than the one here in the US. As of right now, this gal is doing some "virtual" networking" about this issue, because she needs to get her LPN license and all of that taken care of.

I am thinking that there would have to be some way that Christin could start looking up Universities which will convert his transcript to the US model of a GPA and all of that. Right?

Maybe the office for Internationals at a couple of different US Universities would be the way to start this up?

With my pal, it is different, because nursing is a big deal in her country.

The Graduate School (the administrative folks) at every graduate-degree granting university in the US have personnel that are expert in converting grades and degrees from every country to their US equivalents.

We (directors of graduate programs in each department) count on these administrators to provide us with these conversions. When provided with this data, we realize that many European and Asian and African grading scales differ from those in the US, and we take that into account in admissions.

I dont know on what are you thinking about? You did not answer on my question. I dont know if I got any chance to succeed in my wish. Is for an example good idea that I enroll some short course on University which I wish to attend and than it will be more chance to enroll him or I dont have any chance and is to better give up.

i was really stupid! I will not try on your Universities this year commonly. I will enroll University in Croatia like I could here and here is not that much problemms. I will prove myself with fantastic grades here, I will work, and learn fantastic English and after that my autobiography will look 100 %better that now, and I will get much much much more chance than now. Now it is very poor and it doesnt look on anything. I cant that way on force enroll something what I have suggested before two weeks. It is totally unrealistic. I must slow and clever and more ambitious, and than it will look so much better.

Christin

Contact the International Students Department of the Universities you would like to go to in the US and ask them to please convert your transcript to the US system. Then, you look up schools in the US you would like to apply to and figure things out from there.

Be patient, brother! Go on ahead to University in your country while you are planning how to come to the US for more schooling. No big deal.

peace

Christin,
Don't give up. Your grades may be good enough to go to an American university. Do what mildred said and contact the International Students Departments at schools you are considering. Ask them, because we don't really know for sure.

I will not give up totally. I will waite till I dont learn English. I am very bad in English and know very little so it doesnt have any point to try something like that. But next year in february when will be enrollment again, I will try or better in July.

If you move here, your English will improve very quickly! It is clearly not your first language, but it is quite understandable. Good luck!

That is all I could find and maybe it will help you. Also, please do not rule out asking around at your own University.

I am very sorry for the double posting.

I think that you, Christin, should also start up a thread over on the International Students area of this site. You never know if someone from your country is over there.

Sorry for not thinking of that sooner.
