GPA 3.63 is too low to transfer to Cal in EECS?

Hi guys,

So currently I’m going to a CC in the bay area and planning to apply for UC Berkeley this coming fall.
To be honest, I’m not doing very well right now, so I think my overall GPA will land to around 3.63-3.65 by the application.
And my question is, how difficult is it to get into EECS at UC Berkeley with the GPA?

Here’s some my infos:

  • I completed all the lower-division prerequisites that I can take at my CC(Writing, Calculus, Differential Equation, Linear Algebra, Physics, and Computer Science)
  • I haven’t taken some major courses that are not offered at my CC such as COMPSCI 61A, COMPSCI 61C, EL ENG 16A, EL ENG 16B, and COMPSCI 70, but I took circuit, discrete math, and assembly class because I thought they will increase my chance even though they are not equivalent to those at UC Berkeley.
  • I did a full-time summer programming internship last year and am doing a part-time programming internship right now.
  • I am an international student.

Any comments, thoughts, guess are welcome!
Thanks

EECS is insanely competitive. 3.9+ is pretty much necessary. Getting in with a 3.65 is very unlikely.

Thank you for your reply.
Yea I know, it’s pretty unlikely, but I want to know if there’s someone who penetrated the admission with lower GPA…

Of course, there probably have been people who got accepted with a lower GPA, but they must have had amazing ECs/lifestory or a very unique situation. Based on what you’ve posted, it is more realistic to think that you won’t get in.
