GPA 3.7 chances for transfering to UCLA , UCB

I have overall weighted GPA 3.7 from a CC, is it possible to get into UCLA or UCB for a business major.
I'm a CA resident.

It's really important for me because I need to decide whather I should wait for a year to apply to UCLA and UCB or just go to a CAL STATE Uni as I have already got accepted

There’s no such thing as a UCLA undergrad business major.

If you’re going to apply to Berkeley’s Haas, make sure you have all the Transfer requirements fulfilled. They are not the same as the College of Letters & Sciences.

go to the school admission website. Both schools have charts that you can find that show you the average GPA of accepted transfer students by intended major. At UCLA the average GPA of those admitted for Business Econ is 3.94, and for Haas it was 3.84; you can draw your own conclusions.

However the odds might be better than they seem at Cal. According to the Haas page, "1166 applicants did not show planned completion of the admission requirements and were considered ineligible. Of the 376 eligible applicants, 105 (28%) were offered admission. " This is out of 1542 original applicants. In other words if you read the admission requirements very carefully and are sure you have completely satisfied them, then your odds take a significant boost. If you decide to go this route, I’d suggest visiting Cal and arranging an appt with a counselor in Haas before the start of your next year at the CC to make sure you’re taking any classes you might have missed.

Also did you participate in the Transfer Alliance Program at your CC? That gives you preference in admission to UCLA (although not a guarantee).

Very slim at both most likely, but you never know especially if you have a lot of EC’s and good essays. But what made you decide to apply to just CSU’s and not the other UC’s? Also, how many years have you been attending a CC?

thank you guys for replying my post. It has been stressing me out so badly.

The reason I didn’t apply for UC last Fall, it’s because I didn’t have 60 transferable units to UC, but I have enough units for CAL State because my esl classes are counted.

I didn’t participle in TAP, so I will definitely look into it. What is it exactly?

Another question, do you guys know if UCI, UCR both have a good business program compare to Cal Poly Pomona and CSUF ?

I have attending CC for 4 yrs already, that also another consideration for myself.

Thank you again.

TAP = Transfer Admission Priority

Meaning you get a “priority” over other students, and you can use an alternate major effectively giving you a second chance@ UCLA.

I don’t know much about business, So I can’t really answer rest of your questions.

[Profile of Admitted Transfer Students by Major, Fall 2010 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/Tr_Prof10_mjr.htm)

That’s the UCLA site for admission, unfortunately Berkeley doesn’t have one like that but you can use UC statfinder to find out the avg gpa and stuff.

CSUF and CPP are good schools for Business. UC’s always hold a lil more prestige. You have a slim chance at Cal and UCLA. If you do TAG for UCI you could apply as Bus Admin and do Bus Econ as a back-up. Business at UCR is also good!

Truthfully if i had the choice between CSU next fall or UC’s a year from next fall i would go to CSU .

Waiting a year totally kills your schooling mojo.

You have a very slim chance at both Cal and UCLA so it’s really your choice

I would not go to a CSU…

UCB has Haas, UCR has a Business Administration program that you’ll get into for sure, UCSB has BA in Business Economics (emphasis in accounting), and UC Irvine has a Business Administration program. You could probably get into UCI and UCSB.

Thank you for all of your replies.

I think I made my decision, I will wait one year and take calculus I and II and other lower division preparation courses for UC bussiness major.

I will definitely apply for hass …my dream school with tap. And I will apply to UCLA with a different major

And of course I will apply to UCR and UCI for backup.

Thanks~~ I feel so relief now…I just got to keep it up for one more year before transfer , it will suck but oh well! gotta live with it.

I wish TAP existed in So-Cal
