GPA and ACT

My UW GPA is only 3.64 (W: 4.25)
My ACT is a 30 (Superscore: 32)

I know NYU looks at things holistically, but how well do you think I'd hold up with these scores and stats?

Do you have an upward trend, or having you consistently gotten around 3.6 every year of high school? I had a 3.6, but I had vast improvement my junior year, which helped me get accepted. A 30 ACT score is average for NYU. It won’t keep you out, but it won’t get you in, if that makes sense.

Well, my freshman year I did okay, I think I got all As and one or two Bs. Sophomore year was rough for me, I got a couple Bs and even a C. This past year, junior year, I really stepped it up and increased my GPA with only one B and all the rest As. I took a much heavier and challenging courseload (just more APs and honors). Does this count as an upward trend if I started off average, decreased, but then increased??

Do you think superscoring it to a 32 will help me and put me above others?

It might help but I don’t think it’ll necessarily put you above and beyond other applicants. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think they look at your highest and actually create a new composite, because what you got is what you got. Because then I could tell everyone I got a 33 ACT when in reality I had a 31… But I don’t remember NYU’s whole policy on that specifically.

What I WOULD advise you to do; rather than worry about (what I think is) an arbitrary difference in test scores, is to focus on the essays. You have the standard grades and scores for NYU and as of now it could go 50/50, especially if your essays and extracurriculars are mediocre. You didn’t mention anything about activities, awards, leadership positions, etc. It’s that little stuff that they’ll look at when, like WednesdayTomato said, your stats won’t keep you out but won’t get you in.

Yes, NYU does superscore. I am positive of that. They emphasized that point at their information session. I’m not saying I got a 32. I got a 30. Superscored, however, it would be a 32. It says so on their website as well.

I didn’t put my extracurriculars and essays on because I am not too concerned with those. I’ve posted chance me questions before, so I will post it again so you can see a more indepth rendering.

I intend on applying to either CAS or Gallatin. Most likely CAS Undecided.
ED1 regardless.
