GPA and class rank?

If you have a more average GPA (3.6UW, 4.5W) but you're still in the top 3% of your class, will schools take that into consideration?

Your GPA and rank could mean either two things. Ironically, they’re two different extremes of the spectrum.
Your school is very academically rigorous, making it exceedingly difficult for anyone to achieve a 4.0

Or it means that you and your school’s location is disadvantaged in many ways. For example, your neighborhood may be referred to as a “ghetto” where everyone isn’t as motivated to do well in school.

It might be a mixture of both I suppose. Our school is the only ‘A’ school in our county but really motivational students are kind of rare.
