GPA and College Courses

So, I am taking a college level math class which doesn’t go on my high school transcript. My high school counselor said we have the option to put the college class in our high school transcript which would raise our GPA, but my math teacher did not recommend it since she thought it would discount the college level difficulty as a high school difficulty class.

Adding the course to my transcript would increase my GPA by about 0.05. Considering that I am not the top of my class and the highest 9-11 GPA at our school is about a 4.33, would it be worth it to make my GPA a little bit higher, (from 4.17-4.22) to make my app a little more competitive academically?

Bump! My high school counselor said that I could also just send them my college transcript. Would that look better than the same course showing up on my high school transcript and therefore boosting my GPA?

Does your in-state University system evaluate college courses in admissions (UCs do)? If so, listen to your counselor, and definitely don’t put it on your transcript. It will look better that you took the college class. For UCs, for the most part, it will immediately count as a weighted class if its on your college transcript. At private schools, nobody will just look at your GPA and evaluate it at as a number. They will evaluate your entire transcript, all of the courses you took, and the grades your received in them.
