GPA and difficulty

How would u rate the workload at UNC?

Is getting a 3.5 reasonable to do?

3.5 is very reasonable, and doesn't require you breaking your back over it.

I would qualify that by course of study/major. The hard sciences can be difficult and in some classes, with some profs, there are no A's awarded, only A minuses which count for 3.75 and not 4.0 in grade calculation.

I am interested in business.

3.5 GPA.... haha yeah that's hard, especially for your freshman year... business majors too???? Just try your best.

3.5 is about average for a business major. I have heard that people in the sciences have an average GPA of about 3.3. The key is to start off strong freshman year as classes will only get harder. (ie" general chem vs ochem)

Average GPA at UNC: 3.18.

exact answers don't hurt

No, exact answers don't hurt. And I wasn't debating average GPAs. You're obviously not a good candidate for business or a med student if your GPA is low, especially in classes for your major.

What I'm trying to say is that a lot of kids come to college thinking oh, I'm going to be a business major, or oh, I'm going to go pre med because I want to be a lawyer. But what they can't anticipate is the difficulty of the course and how they will do. A lot of kids DON'T do well in the class (es) for their major. And some do very well. So what I am saying is to try your best. Gee people.

I'm assuming that UNC does pluses and minuses.

I'm also worried about the workload at UNC, because I'm transferring in as a junior for economics and I need to get at least a 3.5 to be competive for entrance into the Kenan-Flagler. And if I do a semester at UNC and get rejected I don't know what I will do.

About the comment about some professors not giving out A's. Is that possible? It remind me of my 8th grade Biology teacher who would not give over a 95 on quarterly grades even though I aced all his exams.
