Hi, I have two quick questions. I'm an international and want to know if there is anywhere on the common app where you can put your grade average out of 100 instead of out of 4.0 (e.g. putting a 92 average instead of say 3.8?

My second question is can you put the year you did the EC in rather than the Grade? If yes, would it be better to put the grade you did the EC (e.g. 9th Grade/Grade 9) or the year (e.g. 2008/'08)? Or it doesn't matter?

Yes. Under the “Grades” section of the “Academics” tab, I believe you’re given the option of providing your GPA out of 100.

No. There’s only four boxes - 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th - and you have to check the box that represents the year you participated in the EC.

Thanks
One more thing, my high school has a 6th form(12th grade) that takes 2 years (6B- First year, 6A- Second year) which would essentially make you spend a 13th year in high school. Would you just put the activities under the 12th year then? And my high school starts at the 7th grade, so that means nothing done in the 7th or 8th grade goes towards my college app?

No, but there’s a “PG (Post-Graduate)” box, which you could check and then explain in the “Additional Information” section that your school’s last year is sort of like the 13th grade.

That’s correct.

Thanks for responding. I’m happy about that because my 7th and 8th grade years would surely bring down my app with almost a complete lack of ECs, decent but ‘could-be-better’ grades etc. Once again, thanks for all the help :)

You’re welcome! :)
