I know a lot of colleges drop electives as part of their GPA calculation, but I was wondering if there was any that didn’t. Also, does theater count as part of the electives that they drop?
Colleges that recalculate HS GPA often include all academic courses, including academic electives beyond the minimum required or expected (e.g. if it requires or expects foreign language up to level 3, then it will still include foreign language level 4 in recalculating HS GPA).
However, they may not all have the same definition of “academic” courses. Visual and performing arts are often included, but some have mentioned that some colleges do not include them.
Physical education, health, wood shop, auto shop, home economics, and similar courses are more likely to be excluded in HS GPA recalculations for college purposes.
