I currently am sitting at a 3.8 GPA as of the end of my Sophmore Year (I used an online calculator) and am in all AP classes. I am wondering if this is a strong GPA to have for schools like UCLA, NYU, AMR, Princeton, Stanford, etc. In addition to my GPA I also have several EC's but don't play any school sports. Any help is appreciate, thanks!

A lot depends on that SAT score, how outstanding your extracurriculars are, how much each school will expect your family to pay, and how able your family is to pay it. We don’t have enough info, except to say 3.8s are dime a dozen at the most elite schools like P and S unless you have extraordinary ECs and a 2300 SAT. Then you apply and don’t think about it again because you and everybody else have a 5% chance of acceptance.

Don’t sweat it. You can still affect your GPA, so continue to work hard. Prepare hard for the SAT because it really makes a difference. Try to get some leadership into those ECs.

Meantime, start to have the talk with your parents about how much they think they can provide and run the net price calculators at each school to see how much the school expects of your parents. Come back and see us in a year.
