Ok guys I have this problem my GPA is quite low (2.6), but the good news is I have really high ACT/SAT scores (33)/2230. I have always been good at standardized testing and the GPA comes from me being very lazy when it comes to school work. So I just wondering how you guys think colleges might take this (will it go well or bad)

Keep in mind I have an excellent extracurricular activity record

BE HONEST!!!

Colleges will probably take this exactly as it is - they’ll assume that you’re smart, but lazy, which looks extremely bad (because there’s no point being smart if you don’t take advantage of it).

It will not reflect good on you. They will think that you slacked off and wasted your “talent”—a sign that you might not be able to handle college work when you get there.

I hate to say it but this is very bad. It would even be better to have high GPA and lower test scores. Your situation shows the laziness that adcoms don’t want at their schools. Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

I have the same problem but my gpa is a teeny bit over a 3.0. I had emotional issues I can explain and I showed an upward trend. If you do the same you’ll be fine. Extra curricular acts. may help you shine. Try to apply to all the schools you want and just see where you get in. You may surprise yourself.

Please chance me!! I’m desperate

Try to find schools that weight tests more than GPA. Look at the school’s common data set, section C7.

LACs tend to be more generous and holistic and take a chance on you. With your current GPA, don’t expect merit aid, however. Try Eckerd if you don’t think you would slack off on the beach and other CTCL schools. Again, per Erin’s Dad, check the common data set for each particular school. I check on College Data dot com for stats but I’m not sure how frequently it is updated.
