glad to see this thread. My S2’s SAT and GPA also do not match. SAT 2040 currently, but odds are very good that he can break 2100 this October. GPA weighted 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, close to 4.0 on a 4.5 scale. In his HS, his SAT puts him a top 10% range and his GPA puts him outside 25% range. 3 core APs in Junior year (score: 4 and 5 in 3 AP tests - AP scholar), one SAT II test 780. Taking another 3 core APs and honor courses in senior year (in his school, due to the schedule conflict, it’s very difficult to take more than 3-4 APs no matter what, AND they severely limit the number of kids ALLOWED to take core APs (like English, History, etc). His ECs are terrific, highly unusual and interesting.

I too am having a hard time helping him decide on the list of schools. Working on it, but did not finalize yet.

Meanwhile, I came across Lehigh University (USNWR rank 37), and oddly enough, on a common data set, they indicated that tests are very important, course rigor is very important, but GPA and ranking are not as important. AND, his scores will put him above their 75% marker. I am wondering if this would be a good school to shoot for… Have you encountered other schools with similar “advantages” for kids like ours (high SAT, low GPA).

George Washington U is his dream school, and he will be applying ED. However, I am wondering if we will be squandering a valuable ED opportunity for a school he has a low probability of getting in even with in the ED round…
