GPA appears weird?

I have an issue with the way my GPA appears.
Weighted : 3.6
Unweighted : 2.7
Before this year, my GPA would fall nothing under a 3.0. This year, it never fell below a 4.0. This year, I did take IB classes. What could be the issue with my unweighted GPA? I am very confused about it.

Was the GPA that you’d see your unweighted or weighted GPA?

What was your transcript?

my counselor stated that my unweighted gpa would be a 2.6 , but my weighted is a 3.6. For a scholarship i am trying for, i need to know my unweighted gpa.

i have not seen what is on the transcript yet because the grade system for students to see it is down.

*2.7 sorry

What is your average grade in a class?

I mainly get As and Bs. If I get As, they are usually around 90s-95 . Bs are usually high. Cs are minimal.

Before double checking with your counselor, you can (roughly) calculate your unweighted GPA yourself, as long as you have access to your transcript.
A 4.0
A- 3.7
B+ 3.3
B 3.0
B- 2.7
C+ 2.3
C 2
C- 1.7
D+ 1.3
D 1
D- 0.7
F 0

For every grade add the appropriate number of points then divide by the total number of grades.
(2.7 would indicate you have roughly a B- average, does that seem right?)

@WishfulWolverine it actually depends on your school. At my school, an A- and an A are counted the same; as are a B+, a B, and a B-.
So for them, it may be:
A, A- : 4
B+, B, B- : 3
C+, C, C- : 2
D+, D, D- : 1
F: 0

My county does not go by that system. We just do A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1 .
