GPA/B.S. questions...

Here's the deal-

Right now I am a second year architecture(B.S.) student at Ohio State and plan on going to law school. My questions are...

1)what kind of gpa should I be shooting for? (I have a 3.63 right now because of a horrible freshman year)
2)how do addmissions boards look at B.S.'s?
3)do they favor majors with extremely heavy workloads such as architecture? or is everyone in the same boat on that one?
4)When should I start prepping for/take the LSAT?

Also, I might be transfering to either the University of Virginia and double majoring there(architecture/poli sci), or quitting architecture and transfering to the College of William and Mary for poli sci.

I know im all over the place but any advice pertaining to my situation would be helpful..thank you

i'm only regurgitating what i've gleaned, so this may be apocryphal, but

1) as high as possible. it is a numbers game.
2) the same way they look at bas.
3) apparently, no.
4) yesterday. be methodical. i recommend powerscore's materials.

good luck!

"i'm only regurgitating what i've gleaned, so this may be apocryphal..."

I just love this phrase. It's almost like poetry, or maybe a song lyric.

Just to add, while you should shoot for the highest GPA possible, your current grades are fine. They'll get you into pretty much any school but HYSB, if combined with the right LSAT score. (This would be necessary anyway.)

Difficulty of major may make a difference once you make the initial numerical cut.

Transferring to either of those schools would be good if you could also establish in-state residency in Virginia. That way, you might have an easier shot at UVa, one of the best schools in the country.

However, the LSAT is more important than anything else. So get started early on your prep, maybe 6 months in advance of when you plan on taking it. It's never too early to get a feel for what's involved, and what you'll have to do to max out on it. (You could probably wait until this summer, though.)

...he must be prepping me for the LSAT

Thank you for all of the advice guys. UVA is definately one of my top choices for law schools at this point (I am already a VA resident now). I know that residency helps in undergrad addmissions, but I did not realize it helped for law school also. Oh yeah, are double majors at an advantage in addmissions?

laughing... sorry about the lucubration! i'm kind of a logophile*

*greek for "dork"

Residency definitely helps (they take like 40% instate), though you'll still need good #'s.

I'm not really sure if double majors help. If it lowers your GPA, it probably won't be worth it.

As long as you don't offer him lubrication, I think we'll be fine. ;^)
