GPA calculation & course repetition....

In terms of GPA calculation, I know that UC's will disregard a D or F if the class was retaken for a better grade...although does anyone know if this only applies if that class was taken at the same CC? I got a F five years ago and replaced it for an A at a different college...I am starting to get concerned that the course repetition will be overlooked.

thanks

I’m not sure, but it sounds right to say that you can only use academic renewal with the same school.

They do consider repetition at other schools as long as it’s the exact same class. So like intro to composition or something would be acknowledged but if the class description is more vague it may be hard for them to see. But you should be fine. I did the same thing for a Chem class I never dropped when I moved (I was young and didn’t know the affect it would have) and the UCs said it would be counted as a repeated course.

Ok good. Thanks!

hv u mention the issue in your application?

i did, in the little ‘additional comments’ box…faxed them a letter too indicating that they replaced with AR and retaken for A’s.
