how is gpa calculated at ucla? a=? b=? and how do they calculate pluses and minuses, like what would a b- be?

A+/A = 4.0
A- = 3.7
B+ = 3.3
B = 3.0
B- = 2.7
C+ = 2.3
C = 2.0
C- = 1.7

and so on...

but you can always just use the "GPA Calculator" on myucla to calculate your gpa

Is it just me, or is the MyUCLA GPA calculator broken right now?
It's not showing my cumulative GPA (listed as N/A) or my cumulative units (listed as 0.0).
The GPA Calculator usually works during the inter-quarter period... :rolleyes:

minuses and plusses don't count when they're calculating your highschool gpa, do they?????

No, they don't. That's for GPA here.

Thank you, ucapplicant05. I had the same question myself.

o wow, so if they count pluses and minuses, is it harder to get a good gpa at UCLA than hs?

Yes, generally a good gpa at college is harder to get than at high school. A good GPA in high school would be close to 4.0 UW whereas in college, it's more like 3.5.

3.2+ is pretty good. Since 3.3 is a B+ average, that's still quite difficult, esp. for engineering students.

by the way, i know of 2 kinds of gpa (pre-major gpa and UCLA gpa), but i don't really get what they are. can anyone explain what the 2 are, and when do they start counting the UCLA gpa?
