93-100 = 4.0
90-92 = 3.7
or
95-100 = 4.0
94 = 3.9
93 = 3.8
92 = 3.7
Trying to fill out a form. No clue.
(already emailed school but I’d like to get this done and I suspect they won’t get back to me before I need to leave to pick up kids)
Oops, should have clarified, I need whatever colleges consider correct. It’s for a tournament app.
Grading scales are very school specific. Wait until you have your answer from the school or see if the grading scale is available in your school’s handbook or on their webpage.
Interesting, then how do colleges compare. If my school says a 93, 94 are not a 4.0 but yours says a 93+ = 4.0 how would that work when a college is comparing GPA?
I did check the handbook and it wasn’t there. Found out how you make honor roll though. LOL
A school report with the grading scale accompanies the transcript to college. Adcoms know that all high schools are different.
ok, thanks so much for the help! I figured it was just standardized cause, after all, that would make sense! LOL
I guess I should know by now.
Yes, it’s school specific. Colleges adjust to unweighted to compare but also know the ins and outs of each BS. Also, some schools give a lot of weight to AP and some very little.
FWIW - our school gives no bump for AP, Honors, or accelerated classes. To make it more interesting several schools (including ours) has fewer AP courses than in the past.
I do think this is a relevant topic for students seeking to transfer into a BS after having been at a high school where they benefited from weighted GPA. It may be a game changer for some students when they realize that they will have a lower GPA (most likely) at a rigorous boarding school that does not weight for APs or Honors.
Well, glad I asked, they gave me an even nicer answer than my best calculation. Not sure what kind of system they use but I guess I will just have to ask every time I need it for a form because they didn’t tell me how to figure it out just what it is “since they don’t calculate GPA.”
