GPA calculation

Hello,

I'm considering applying to UNC this coming fall but am not sure how to calculate it's GPA. If someone could help me out, that'd be fantastic! Thanks in advance.

Does UNC consider UW or W or both?

Some schools don't consider non-academic courses such as PE and Health when calculating their GPA; do Marching Band and Symphonic Band fall into this category of non-academic courses for UNC?

What years of high-school do UNC consider (ie. 9th-11th, 10th-11th, 10th-12th_firstsemester, etc.)?

Do classes taken at a local community college count towards the GPA? If I took a course the summer between 9th and 10th grade, would this course be considered part of 9th or 10th?

Does UNC superscore the SAT?

Thank you very much and have a wonderful summer!

yes UNC superscores the SAT. if you take both the ACT and SAT, they will convert your ACT score into an SAT score; they'll compare those two SAT scores and use whichever one is higher.

Awesome, thanks!

Does anyone have the answers to the other questions?

UNC considers it all, if it is on your transcript and it has a grade then it's considered. And, since you apply to school in the fall of your senior year, the transcript that gets sent to them is everything from 9th-11th grade and if your UW and W GPA isn't calculated on your transcript then they do it. Then, if you get accepted Early Action, Applied Regular Decision, or were deferred, they will ask you to report your midyear grades from your senior year online. And then you send a final transcript if accepted or waitlisted at the end of the year.

Classes at a community college do NOT count towards your GPA at UNC but they do give you credit. That is unless you took Dual Enrollment AT UNC, like I did.

It doesn't matter "what year" your summer school counts towards, it just all gets added into your 9th-11th grade W and UW GPA. UNC considers your W over your UW but they look at both.
