GPA Calculation!!!!!

how do you calculate GPA for USC?
do you count your freshman year?
do you count ALL your classes including PE, dance, yearbook, draw&paint, etc?
do you consider A's different from A-'s and B's differnt from B+'s?
HELP PLEASE!!!!

To calculate high school GPA for USC:
--Yes, count freshman year.
--Do not count PE or health. I'm not sure about yearbook, draw&paint but I'm pretty sure it's only academic classes (I'll find the answer for sure on Monday.)
--Do not consider - and +.

(Once you are a student at USC, - and + are used to calculate USC GPA.)

yay thank you so much!

Admissions confirmed- they do not include any non-academic classes when calculating GPA like PE, Health, Drama, Art, Yearbook, etc.

cc411: You don't happen to know how they calculate GPAs of internationals, do you? :) I'm worried that my GPA might be bad when USC calculates it...

Sorry- I don't. Here on CC, most people talk about their GPA based on A-F letter grades translated to a 4.0 scale (unweighted) so that has become the norm in order for us to make comparisons.

It's not clear if the 100 point system can be directly translated to 100=4.0, 75=3.0, etc. I have asked admissions a lot of questions about GPA and they normally will not give a clear answer. The most common answer is that it really depends on your school. They also say that they are very knowledgeable about most all high schools including internationals since they have so many students who apply, and they know how to evaluate your grades- but they won't tell us exactly.

This one might be worth a call or email to admissions for your specific school. Let us know if you get an answer.

cc411: I asked them a while ago (although I didn't tell them my specific school, just the country) and the answer was sketchy at best... I guess evaluation of international grades is rather complicated.
But then again, it might be better if I don't even know how they do it.

Although it is complicated, they still will know how to do it. They are just always "sketchy" about telling us over the phone how they do it.
Good luck.

Where does USC ask for GPA? If PE is not included why is it in the pull down menu?

i was wondering that too

Perhaps they want to see how you were filling your time? Ex.: If you were taking a class required for hs graduation, that's a lot different than sitting in your car listening to music every day during fourth period.
