Forgive me for being a bit ignorant.
BUT how do colleges calculate your GPA?

It depends. Some just take your transcript GPA at face value. Some may remove non-core classes (i.e. Phys Ed) and re-calculate. Since high schools have such varying grading methods, this is not a strange endeavor. It’s obvious that colleges greatly desire to equalize applicants fairly. Don’t sweat it.

The GPA reported in the Common Data Set is on a 4.0 scale:
A = 4
B = 3
C = 2
D = 1

Yes, to above.

Some also allow for weighted grades.

The UCs and CSUs have their own way of doing GPA using only CERTAIN classes that are taken soph and junior years only.
