GPA calculations

So I've been trying to calculate my GPA using TONS of online guides, calculators, blah blah blah...and I always seem to get different numbers.
Can anyone help me out? Give me a chart or something?

THANKS

Whats a 3.7 GPA about out of 100?

Your GPA is just a number, and it can be calculated a number of different ways.

Here's what's usually used for the general formula:
A - 4.0
B - 3.0
C - 2.0
D - 1.0
F - 0.0

Get the grades for each class, add them up, and average them. That is your unweighted GPA. It isn't out of 100 - it isn't that precise. Therefore, there is no difference between an A+ and an A-.

Sometimes, schools may weigh honors classes by giving one extra point for each of them if the grade is passing (eg. A - 5.0, B - 4.0, C - 3.0, D - 1.0, F - 0.0).

Also, some (though very few) schools may give bonuses and take away points for a + or -. Eg. A- - 3.7, A+ - 4.0, B- - 2.7, B+ - 3.3.

So, a 3.7 GPA could be anywhere from a 87 to 97 on a 100 scale.

at my school A+ is 4.5, A is 4.2 and A- is 3.9, so on. it suckssss.

My school goes from 5.3 (H/AP A+) down.

if you had a 3.7/4 wouldn't it be (100 x (3.7/4))=92.5? It seems that would make the most sense.

you could do that but its not accurate, thats not how they get the gpa. just noooo.

It differs between schools.

This is whatr the Princeton review approximates, but remember you can only use core courses. No wood shop, phys ed ect

4.0 95-100 A
3.9 94 A
3.8 93 A
3.7 92 A
3.6 91 A
3.5 90 A
3.4 89 B
3.3 88 B
3.2 87 B
3.1 86 B
3.0 85 B
2.9 84 B
2.8 83 B
2.7 82 B
2.6 81 B
2.5 80 B
2.4 79 C
2.3 78 C
2.2 77 C
2.1 76 C
2.0 75 C
1.9 74 C
1.8 73 C
1.7 72 C
1.6 71 C
1.5 70 C

my school does this

4.00-A
3.67-A-
3.33-B+
3.00-B
2.67-B-
2.33-C+
2.00-C
1.67-C-

and so on. nothing for an A+. it really bites.
