My high school (private catholic high school in Texas) does not report grade point averages in terms of X.XX. Instead they give us the percentage that we earned in each class and an average percentage for each semester. Since a perfect GPA is 4.0, am I correct in assuming that if I just take my percentage and divide by 25(i.e. 90.00/25 = 3.60), that it would approximate how admission officers would interpret my grades/grade point average? Thanks for your help!

Ehh, noooo… UW GPA generally works like this:

100 = 4.0
95 = 4.0
90 = 3.5
85 = 3.0
80 = 2.5

etc.

60/65 = 0.0

no, its a bit more complicated than that. a gpa also takes APs and honors classes into account.

my school does the same thing as yours…a good number of schools do. Admissions officers completely understand how your school’s percentage system works and theres no need to bother converting.

Rule of thumb is
90 - 100 A 4.0
80 - 89 B 3.0
70 - 79 C 2.0
60 - 69 D 1.0
below 60 F 0.0

Don’t worry about that. Colleges have their own systems and, most importantly, you are NOT the first.
There have been thousands of yous in this aspect.
