GPA change with 1st semester grades, change common app?

Hey there, quick question. My daughter has completed her first semester of senior year. Her grades are in and they pull up her overall GPA quite a bit. She's applied to several schools already using her GPA through 11th grade. She has a few more applications to be submitted this weekend. Should my daughter report her new gpa and class rank for the last few schools even if the counselor won't likely get the mid-year report done until mid January? Or is it more appropriate to report what the current transcript connected to the common app says.

It's the difference between a 3.6 uw and a 3.8 uw (4.04 to 4.3 weighted.) A 3.8 moves her into a much stronger position for these last schools that are the more selective on her list.

Yes she can modify it.
If her GC has already sent her record to her colleges, she should make sure her counselor sends ASAP the Optional report with the new updated GPA (before the mandatory midyear report which is typically sent in February).

you can change it but they’ll probably only go by what’s on the midyear report anyway.

Are you sure you calculated that correctly? I have no idea how a 3.6 cum GPA can get to 3.8. That would take an UW 4.4 for the entire year.

Yes, it’s right. She was close to a 3.7 already. She takes mostly college classes for duel credit and so several of her grades count as 2 high school semesters as opposed to a single one. It’s different, I know.

Thanks! I’ll tell D to chat with her counselor about the optional report.
