This question is directed to all the cc members who have transferred from one university to another at some point. I want to know about the calculation of your GPA one you matriculate into the other school (the one u transferred into) specifically the process in the case of Ivies (Cornell, Columbia and Penn in particular)...does it start from the point you enter the new school or is there some kind of a carry forward. For instance if I have a 4.0 from UVA and I transfer to Columbia/Penn as a soph by the end of the soph year what would my GPA be...the one based only on the grades that I received during the 2 semesters of the sophomore year or something different

There’s no carry-over. Your GPA starts from scratch.

But if you end up applying to law schools, your GPA will be aggregated over all college courses taken, no matter the school. I’m sure a similar process is in place for other professional schools.
