GPA confusion...help!

I am confused as to how my GPA will be calculated by admissions. Does each school have a different manner of doing this? Are there common methods used by most schools? Here is my concern. I have a 3.4 unweighted and a 3.5-3.6 if you include my AP classses. But my school is really HARD. It's a small school and my class size is 38 students. I'm not even in the upper 50% because very few us of us do better than 3.8. How will this impact my college applications? P.S. The average SAT score at my school is 2100.

Usually high schools submit a school profile to the colleges so that they know that the school is hard. I think most schools look at unweighted scores but they also look at what your classes are, so don't worry.

The bottom line is that each school can recalculate your GPA according to their own formula.
