Does anyone know what a 97 avg out of 100 is in terms of the 4 point gpa scale?

Ive heard you just divide by 25? Is that true? Or is it like a range such as 95-100 is 4.0 90-94 is 3.9 and so on?

I think there are different ways of determining GPA...you'd have to check with your school. I got 4.0 but your school may do it differently...

Well, the only way to find out your true unweighed gpa is to calculate it using your previous scores. For example, if you got a 100% in every class except for an 89% in one class, your gpa would be below 4, but dividing by 25 it would be above.

So bassically, look at your highschool transcript, add up all your grades
A=4
B=3
C=2
D=1

Average them.

My high school grades on a number scale.

Each class is out of 100.

My avg is 97 out of 100 and I was wondering what that is on a 4.0 scale, if there is any way to determine that.

Honestly, the only way to make it 100% accurate is to see how many classes you got below a 90% in and blah blah

Ok, have you ever gotten below a 90% in a class in high school? If so, state the percentages.

Not in any main subjects. I think in band I got an 85% in 9th grade (never went to lessons) but I believe thats the only one.

cant you just put it into a ratio? 97/100 = x/4

could that work?

Moose is exactly right. You have to find your school's scale. 90-100 A, 80-90 = B. (or 94-100 = A. Whatever it is is what it is.) Look at each class (usually only academic classes not band) . Assign a grade point. English 87 = B = 3.0 Math 91 = A = 4.0 .Then add the grade points together and divide by the number of classes . VOILA' -zee GPA , she is 3.5 .

Ours is by semester. Each semester is one credit. Works the same way.

IF your scale is 90-100 = A and you have never had an ending grade of less than 90 then you have a 4.0. :) Congratulations.

I had the same question in the Parents forum. You might want to look at this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=125868

At Bentley this is the table of grades. (Other schools may vary)

4.0 A 95-100
3.7 A- 90-94
3.3 B+ 87-89
3.0 B 83-86
2.7 B- 80-82
2.3 C+ 77-79
2.0 C 73-76
1.7 C- 70-72
1.3 D+ 67-69
1.0 D 63-66
0.7 D- 60-62
0.0 F Below 60
P C (2.0) or better 73 or better

If you got one 85% and that's it, then do this

erm
let X stand for the total amount of classes you took in high school until now

4(X-1) + 3

and then divide that by x

so for example, if you have taken 20 courses, then your gpa would be 3.95

EDIT: This is basing on 90-100=4 and 80-89=3 because that's how most schools I know do it

Ok thanks for the help
