GPA Discrepancies among schools?

The US should standardize this thing already. Fairfax County, VA makes a 93 and above an A. Some people are claiming GPA's of 4.3 on these forums(not weighted). Honestly, can somebody help me understand this madness and what seems to be the standard?

My school's standards:
89.5 is usually rounded up to an A

Unweighted GPA:
A=4
B=3
C=2

GPA is calculated by semester grade, not quarter. For example, an A first quarter, A second quarter, and C on the semester exam is counted as a 4.

Weighted GPA(Honors and AP):
A=5
B=4
C=3

Other counties have honors count as 4.5 and AP as 5.

i agree that GPA should be standardized, but I think the 4.5/5 thing is better because at least in my school, there is a big difference between honors and ap

Miami dade county is an A in honors = 5 and an A in AP = 6

GPA Discrepancies happen all over the world, from the UK to Mexico. This isn't a US problem, it's an income thing...
When I went to New Zealand and Australia two summers ago, I studied at two schools, and the divide was great. At the first school I studied at (roughly the equivalent of two grade levels above me), I could do the school work easily with no previous background. At the second school, the school work was challenging and interesting. The difference? One was an underfunded school in a rural town, while the other was a urban school in a rich neighborhood in Sydney.
