I have had a very rough junior year. A lot of issues with family. Dad lost job and left. Illness was also a problem. So my gpa dropped from a 4.0 to a 3.3 in one year. My mom is telling me that my life is over and i will end up flipping burgers for the rest of my life because i probably wont get into a decent college and end up going to a cc. I am telling her it is stll possible to get into a decent college. Am i right?

The 3.3 is culumulative meaning you got a 1.9 GPA in your Jr year? Or were you previously carrying a 4.0 and only got a 3.3 your junior year? That would mean your Culm GPA overallis still 3.77 – still a very good number.

If you do relatively well in your Sr year 1st semester and your ACT/SAT – you’ll still have many options. Your mom is over-reacting. Not surprising given the recent events. Try to give her space to vent. Try to reassure her.

If indeed you only got a 1.9GPA your Junior year, and you currently have 3.3 culmulative, then your options are limited. But certainly not hopeless. Many reputuable schools will still take you. Once in college, it can be a fresh slate.

Good luck to you
