GPA for admission

How does JHU calculate high school GPA? Does freshmen year count? Extra points given to AP classes?

your GPA i believe is calculated from the day you begin high school. of course AP classes are given consideration, there is no question in that. if you have read the forum from before, your question has been brought up 210947 times.

Well the JHU website said that the average high school GPA is 3.6 so I was just wondering if I could calculate mine and see where I stand in their GPA system

Aaarggghhhh...search the old threads. Answers to these questions have already been posted!!!

As far as the 3.66 average GPA - I am assuming you are get that stat from this page: <a href="http://www.jhu.edu/news_info/statistics/%5B/url%5D">http://www.jhu.edu/news_info/statistics/</a>. Please note that that web page is not an Admissions page...there is no where on the Admissions site (<a href="http://apply.jhu.edu%5B/url%5D">http://apply.jhu.edu</a>) where we mention average GPA for the reasons I stated in the above thread.

The 3.66 GPA on the News/Info page is one that is calculated by the Admissions Office for statistical purposes only. Many publications required certain admissions statistics and GPA is one of those, so every year we must calculate an average GPA even though we strongly feel this is a misleading admissions stat. The 3.66 GPA is a re-calculated GPA that takes your grades in the main academic subjects (english, math, science, history, and foreign language) and places it an unweighted 4.0 scale.

Whew, that is more than I ever like to say about admissions stats and GPAs.
