I am going to be a freshman at the Louisiana State University Honors College and I am majoring in Chem E. What is a good GPA in the honors college to get into grad schools like mit, stanford, uc berkeley, princeton, cornell, ut austin, etc? In the honors college, students do research with their professor, a thesis, honors classes through projects and research in those classes, internships, study abroad, etc. And they also participate in community service too. im just saying this so you can get an idea of the rigor of the program since that also has an impact on the admissions decision. Is at least a 3.7 good enough? Thanks.

For MIT ive only seen people with 3.9 and above get in. Im going to be a senior in cheme with a 3.85 and i dont think thats good enough for MIT. For the other top 10 schools i think 3.7-3.8 and above is good. Just make sure u do well on your GRE, do a lot of research so you can find out what youre interested in, try to get a few publications and you should be fine.

Dont stress over it now, youre not even in college yet! You havent taken cheme classes yet and you might hate it. Also, in 3 years you might not even want to go to grad school after all of the sleepless nights you get with cheme.
